“I always knew I’d be a builder.”
Some people spend their entire lives trying to discover their dream career. Others instinctively know from a young age what they will do for work. Because for them, it’s not really work. It’s a passion. A hobby. Perhaps even a calling.
The latter is definitely the case for Lloyd Hattingh, the owner of ParkDev Projects. Spending hours on building sites beside his father (who was a builder), Lloyd learned his trade firsthand.
“I loved to see things being made from nothing,” he recalls. “Seeing the way drawings on paper could be turned into magnificent buildings with simple bricks and mortar. And I still do!”
By the time he left school, Lloyd’s path was clear. He earned a degree in construction management (later achieving Honours) and started his career in construction in South Africa (where he grew up).

Different Country, Same Calling
At 26, Lloyd made a life-changing move to Australia. He extended his career in commercial construction, managing large teams and working on luxury refurbishments and complex projects. His wide-ranging experience (including civil construction – building complexes) gave Lloyd an edge and his career advanced quickly.
Offering More Value By Eliminating The Middlemen
Lloyd experienced immediate success as a developer. Partly because of his meticulous attention to detail in design and construction. Partly because of his disciplined management processes that enabled him to finish projects quickly and efficiently. And also because of his holistic approach – taking responsibility from concept to completion – and cutting out the middlemen (and their expensive fees). This enabled Lloyd to provide his clients with more value for their budget.

A Passion For Perfection
While most builders rush to finish a project so they can move onto another (even if it means cutting corners), Lloyd is fastidious when it comes to quality. That’s why he is suited so well to building spacious, luxurious homes in the Lower North Shore.
“It’s not about merely finishing a project,” he says. “It’s about creating a home that is perfectly matched to the family who lives there -- so they can truly relax, enjoy life, and make and cherish the most important memories of their lives.”
Better Opportunities For Investors Too
As ParkDev’s developments took shape one by one, people started to notice. Including investors who wanted to be part of the action. Partly because of the profits (which you can read about here). But also because of the legacy Lloyd was building: Premium homes that would be admired in the community for decades.
